Monarchs and Gods
Each house has one monarch and can summon one god, and the game gives both of them rules of their own. The monarchs are Elsin, Kirenna, Thirsha, Lokken and Creon's Sage.
When a Monarch Dies
Before a battle, the Monarch Expendable option decides what a monarch's death means. With the option off, the moment your monarch dies, every unit you own dies with it. With it on, your monarch is just another unit, and you play on without it. The rule does not apply in the campaign, where each mission sets its own conditions for defeat.
What Makes a Monarch Different
- No spell can turn a monarch to stone, freeze it or take it over (see special attacks).
- No stunning weapon of the five houses can stun it, because every one lists 0 damage against monarchs.
- It never gains veteran levels, so its kills make it no stronger and its spells never get cheaper.
- Like every caster, it starts with no personal mana. Filling its 1000 takes from 40 seconds for Lokken to 100 seconds for Kirenna.
- It adds 10 mana a second to your income and 5000 to your storage, and that storage is your opening mana (see mana income).
- It builds with a build power of 10, the same as an ordinary builder.
- It heals itself from nothing to full in 4 minutes. Elsin, with 16,000 hit points, regains 66.7 a second.
Gods
Each house can summon one god: the Avatar of Anu, the Angel of Lihr, the Wrath of Tammuz, the Spawn of Belial and Creon's Ghost of Garacaius.
- Gods never gain veteran levels.
- No spell can take a god over, and none can turn one to stone.
- Every god's weapon lists 0.01 against monarchs. Read as a multiplier, a god does 1% of its normal damage to a monarch: the Avatar of Anu's sword, which does 6300 to other units, would do 63 to Elsin.
- Four of the five gods do not heal themselves. Only the Ghost of Garacaius does, from nothing to full in 1 minute.
- Destroying a god is worth about 1000 experience points to the unit that does it. A Swordsman, whose levels take 9 points each, would go straight to the top level.
Worked Example
The Avatar of Anu attacks Elsin. Its Magical Sword does 6300 to most units, but read as a multiplier, the data gives it 63 against a monarch. The sword strikes every 3.6 seconds, about 17.5 damage a second. Elsin heals 66.7 hit points a second by himself, so the sword on its own cannot even keep up with his healing.
