Personal Mana, Spells and Cloaking
Spellcasters carry their own supply of mana, shown as a blue bar under their health. It is separate from your shared store: spells and cloaking draw only on it, and recharging it takes nothing from your shared mana. The economy page lists each caster's supply and spell costs.
Charging Up
A caster starts with an empty supply, not a full one. Every tick, a finished caster regains a thirtieth of its recharge rate, up to its maximum. The recharge is free.
Elsin recharges 20 a second, so a new Elsin needs 45 seconds before it can cast Earthen Wave, which costs 900. In a new game, your monarch's strongest spell is not ready at the start.
Casting
- A caster does not aim a spell it cannot afford. The cost is taken when the spell is released.
- After each shot, if the caster cannot afford the next shot of the spell it is using, it switches by itself to a cheaper one.
- Veterans pay less: the cost is divided by 1 + 0.1 × the veteran level. Monarchs never gain veteran levels, so they always pay the full cost.
An Acolyte recharges 10 a second. A new Acolyte waits 75 seconds for its first Turn To Stone, which costs 750. At veteran level 5, the same spell costs 750 ÷ 1.5 = 500, and charging from empty to that cost takes 50 seconds.
Cloaking
A cloaked unit pays its cloak cost from its personal mana every tick: one rate while it stands still and a higher one while it moves. When it cannot pay, it decloaks and cannot cloak again for 3 seconds.
While it stays cloaked, enemy units do not choose it as a target.
All values are personal mana per second. The Assassin's cloak costs more than it recharges, even standing still, so a cloaked Assassin always runs down in the end. Its supply grows only while it is visible. As it starts empty, a new Assassin needs time uncloaked before it can stay hidden for long.
