Build Planner
List what your monarch builds, in order, and what the first building that trains units then trains. The planner works out when each job starts and finishes, how your mana rises and falls, and when a shortage slows your builders down. It follows the rules the game itself uses. The game counts time in ticks, 30 to the second, and so does the planner.
How Building Works
Every tick, a builder adds its workertime times 0.03333333 to the job. That number is the game's own, written to eight places, and it is a little less than one thirtieth. Each monarch has a workertime of 10, so it adds 0.3333333 a tick, and so does a Barracks.
A job is finished when what has been added reaches the unit's build time. The Aramon Lodestone has a build time of 92, so Elsin takes 277 ticks to build one: 9.23 seconds. A plain division gives 276 ticks, but the game rounds as it adds, and the last small piece costs one more tick.
You pay as the work goes on. Each tick of work costs the same share of the unit's mana cost: about 1.01 mana a tick for the Lodestone, or 30.4 mana a second.
How Mana Settles
Kingdoms settles your mana every tick, in this order:
- Your income for the tick goes into your store. A monarch earns 10 mana a second, a building that trains units 1, and a Lodestone 10 times the rating of the mana site it stands on. A Lodestone must cover the whole site, or it earns nothing.
- Your storage is the total that all your finished units hold: 5000 for a monarch, 1000 for a Lodestone and 100 for a Barracks.
- The game adds up what all your working builders would spend this tick. If your store cannot cover that, every builder works at the same reduced speed, in proportion to what is there.
- Each builder works and pays in turn, and never takes more mana than is left.
- Mana above your storage is lost.
So when mana runs short, Kingdoms slows every job down smoothly instead of stopping it. Your builders then go as fast as your income allows.
A monarch brings its own storage into your store when a battle starts, so you begin with 5000 mana. If your game started with a different amount, change it in the planner.
What the Planner Leaves Out
- Walking, turning and units leaving the building that trained them. A builder places its next job on the tick after it finishes the last one, and starts work on the tick after that.
- Every builder except the monarch and the first building on its list that trains units. The units it trains add their income and storage, but they do not build or move.
- Helping another builder, spells and fighting.
